  • How to apply for Halal certificate through MYeHALAL system?
    Cara memohon sijil halal adalah seperti berikut.
    1. Visitportal
    2. Choose domestic or overseas application.
    3. Register the company account through the MYeHALAL system using SSM number.
    4. Confirmation of company's account ID and password will be given via e-mail within 24 hours.
    5. The Company shall read and download the Halal certification procedures Manual.
  • What is the applicant can do if forgot password?
    Applicants need to contact the ICT Section, BPH by giving the Company Registration Number for follow-up actions.


  • THE COMBINED APPLICATION
  • What are the criteria to qualify for an application can be combined?
    The criteria that qualify for the merger application are:
    1. Category of application can be combined:
      • Renewal and renewal.
      • Renewal and add product/menu/outlet.
    2. Shall be the same scheme.
    3. The expiry period of all Malaysian Halal certification certificates (SPHM) to be combined do not exceed 6 months.
    4. Application documents must be submitted together with the accompanying letter explaining that the situation of the application includes the summary of the product/menu and ingredient material application is incorporated in the earliest application will expire.
    5. The applicant must select the ' new ' category.
    6. The date of the halal certificate for the application which was merged depends on the date of approval of the application.
  • Is it possible to combine applications for products produced in different factories?
    No you can’t.


  • PAYMENT/FINANCIAL STATEMENT
  • What documents are required if the company does not have an annual financial statement?
    The company may submit bank statement for the last three months.
  • How to pay Halal certification fees?
    Payment must be made by postal order/bank draft
  • What is the time period for the company to make payment after receiving the charge letter?
    Payment must be made within 14 working days. The application will be rejected automatically if no payment is made within the period.
  • Will the fee be refunded if the application is unsuccessful or cancelled by the applicant?
    Fees that have been paid are not refundable.


  • PBT LICENSE / LOCATION
  • Can the application be made if there is no PBT license?
    No you can’t.
  • Should I make a new application if the factory changes its location?
    Yes. The applicant must make a new application.


  • BASIC DOCUMENTS/SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
  • What are the supporting documents that need to be prepared for the purpose of application?
    Please refer to the checklist of documents based on the scheme applied in the MYeHALAL system.
  • What are the required supporting documents if the ingredient does not have halal certification?
    Please attach:
    1. Specifications of the product and/or MSDS (Material Safety Data sheet) stating the source of raw material/composition.
    2. The ingredient process flow chart.
  • Is Halal declaration accepted if the ingredients are not halal certificate?
    No.
  • Is the COA (Certificate of Analysis) accepted?
    No.
  • How many days given for applicant to send the hard copy document to JAKIM/JAIN?
    Delivery of completed documents must be made within five (5) working days. The application will be rejected automatically if no document is received during the period.
  • What documents are required for halal certification application?
    Required documents for halal certification applications can be referred to in the checklist of MYeHALAL system.
    Reminder Note:
    1. Documents must be arranged according to checklist.
    2. Documents related to ingredient materials shall be arranged based on the order of the MYeHALAL system.
    3. Information regarding ingredient material and registration of DCA (if applicable) must be marked (tagging) and at highlight.
    4. Documents must be punched and filed in accordance with thickness.


  • CHARGE RATE
  • What are the charges imposed for a hotel that is not a star rating?
    The charge rate imposed is RM200/kitchen for a period of two years.
  • What is the rate of charge for the addition of the promotional menu/menu?
    RM200 for a period of two years.
  • What is the charge rate charged for adding a product?
    Based on company category.
  • What is the charge rate for adding a outlet?
    RM200 per outlet for a period of two years.


  • RENEWAL
  • When is the application for renewal can be made?
    Renewal application must be made within 6 months or at least 3 months before the expiry of the certification.
  • Can the company make renewal application for expired certificate?
    Can't. The company shall make new applications


  • INGREDIENT MATERIALS
  • Can natural products be certified Halal?
    Can. Provided that the applied product has a washing/deletion/packaging process and other.
  • Are alcohol allowed in the ingredient material?
    Alcohol use (ethanol) is permitted in ingredient materials provided –
    1. Alcohol is not derived from the alcohol making process.
    2. The percentage of alcohol allowed for lightweight drinks made not for the purpose of liquor is under level 1% v/v
    3. Food/beverage containing flavoring/coloring materials containing alcohol for the purpose of stabilization and end products is not intoxicating liquor and alcohol rate not exceeding 0.5%.


  • MENU/PRODUCT
  • Does the promotion menu need to apply for halal certification?
    Yes, applicants need to make an application to add a menu.
  • What are the names of menus/products that are not eligible for certification?
    Menu names that are synonymous with non-halal menus and/or names that have a negative impact or have other religious elements.


  • PHARMACEUTICALS/COSMETICS
  • What are the specific documents required for halal application for the pharmaceutical/cosmetic scheme?
    The specific documents required are as follows:
    1. Pharmaceutical – MAL No.
    2. Cosmetics – NOT No.
    3. Manufacturing licence from DCA (for pharmaceuticals).
  • What is the relevant certification scheme for perfume application?
    The relevant certification scheme for perfume applications is as follows:
    1. Cosmetic scheme – for external use of human body
    2. Consumer goods scheme – for other than human body.


  • CONTRACT MANUFACTURING (OEM)
  • Can the brand owner apply for halal certification in the name of his own company?
    Can, provided-
    1. The manufacturer has a valid halal certification under the OEM scheme.
    2. The brand owner must apply for a halal certificate for all factory issuing the same product
  • Can a brand owner appoint a contract manufacturer who does not have a halal certification?
    Can't. The manufacturer must have a halal certificate first before offering OEM service.
  • Can brand owners appoint other contract manufacturers to produce similar products?
    Can, provided –
    1. The manufacturer has a valid halal certification under the OEM scheme
    2. The brand owner must apply for a halal certificate for all factory issuing the same product.


  • SCHEME
  • Can the application of a different scheme be made in one application?
    Can't. The company shall make separate applications for different schemes.
  • What to do if the OEM plant does not have its own product?
    The manufacturer must apply for halal certification under the OEM scheme.


  • INTERNATIONAL APPLICATION
  • How do I apply for international halal certification?
    1. Visit portal Halal.
    2. Select overseas application.
    3. Register the company account through the MYeHALAL system using SSM number/registration numb.
    4. Confirmation of company's account ID and password will be given via e-mail within 24 hours.
    5. The Company shall read and download the Malaysia’s Halal Certification Procedures Manual.
  • What are the eligible product schemes for overseas certification?
    Product schemes eligible for international certification are as follows:
    1. Food/Beverage Product.
    2. Cosmetics.
    3. Pharmaceutical.
    4. Consumer Goods.
  • Who is eligible to apply for international certification?
    Companies registered in Malaysia whether branches, importers, distributors and agents in Malaysia are eligible to apply for international certification.
  • What are the charges involved in international halal certification application?
    The certification fee is as follows :

  • How long is the time taken for international application auditing?
    The period of time taken for international application auditing is a minimum of 4 days for 1 factory including the return and back day and depends on the distance of the journey and situation.
  • Who provides an audit itinerary?
    The company providing an audit itinerary.
  • Is the manufacturer of the foreign country must have halal certification from Foreign Certification Body recognised by JAKIM?
    No.
  • Can a halal logo issued by the Foreign Certification Body recognised by JAKIM is replaced by the Malaysian halal logo?
    No.
  • What documents are required for application?

  • Are animal-based products and dairy eligible to apply for halal certification?
    The applicant should refer to the Department of Veterinary Services Malaysia for animals and dairy products.
  • Can gelatin products be certified?
    Can, once the processing plant is approved by the Department of Verterinar Services Malaysia.
  • How can I apply for the halal certificate for the foreign slaughter house?
    JAKIM has not issued a halal certificate to the slaughter house overseas. However, the company must contact the Department of Verterinar Verterinar Malaysia to obtain the import permit.


  • AUDIT SECTION
  • How long does it take to be scheduled when payment is made?
    By turn of payment within 30 days.
  • Will the applicant be notified before JAKIM's field audit?
    Yes, the applicant will be notified via e-mail registered in the MYeHALAL system.
  • If there is an application made in the near future, will an audit be conducted at the same time?
    It depends on the shift in scheduling and consideration of JAKIM and JAIN/MAIN.
  • If the company is not ready when scheduled, can it be delayed?
    The company shall inform JAKIM and JAIN/MAIN as soon as the notification is received and submit reasonable grounds to be suspended in the field auditing.
  • How many auditors involved during the field auditing?
    At least two (2) persons comprising shariah and technical fields.
  • Will the audit be conducted in the evenings?
    Yes, an audit will be conducted at any time based on company's operating hours.
  • What are the elements that are seen during auditing?
    An audit includes the following elements:
    1. Company documentation and profile.
    2. Internal Halal control system
    3. Raw materials/ingredients and processing materials
    4. Equipment
    5. Packaging and labelling
    6. Storage.
    7. Processing
    8. Transport.
    9. Employee.
    10. Sanitation and sanitation system.
    11. Waste Management.
    12. Physical premises.
  • How long does it take to answer the report?
    5 working days.
  • Will the auditors take samples during the field auditing?
    Yes, if necessary.
  • How do if applicants want to apply for an extended period to answer a report?
    The applicant must send an official letter and submit a strong excuse for the extended period application to answer the non-conformance report. Appropriate considerations will be given if reasonable.
  • Will JAKIM and JAIN/MAIN will conduct follow-up audits if the non-conformance report t is issued?
    It is dependent on the response to the non-conformance report comply with the Malaysian halal certification.
  • How do applicants wish to deal with the auditors of JAKIM and JAIN/MAIN for the purpose of providing feedback upon the field auditing?
    The applicant may contact the JAKIM and JAIN/MAIN auditors through the information on a copy of the audit report, such as name, telephone number and e-mail or to transact directly at the counter.
  • How do I answer a non-conformance report?
    Response for the non-conformance report feedback must be accompanied by an official letter, a list of disqualification issued with corrective actions undertaken and submit the attachment and sent by hardcopy all auditors involved.
  • How do I update the information in the MYeHALAL system?
    The applicant must inform the auditors formally by e-mail or by hand and wait until the MYeHALAL system is open to be updated.


  • FAQ CERTIFICATE SECTION
  • How long is the certificate ready after printing?
    Certificate will ready printed within 5 working days.
  • When can the certificate be acquired/obtained?
    Applicants should check in the MYeHALAL system and if the certificate's serial number is displayed, the certificate is completed.
  • How can a certificate be taken after an approved application has been notified?
    Applicants from Klang Valley need to go to the Halal Management Division at Level 6 Block D, Kompleks Islam Putrajaya. For the outside applicants of Klang Valley, Halal Management Division, JAKIM will post on a PosLaju.
  • When can certificates be collect at the counter?
    Certificate can be collect only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Who can collect the certificate?
    Any worker from a requesting company may represent a company to take a certificate.
  • Is the runner allowed to take halal certificate?
    Can, provided that the letter of Representatives is brought together.
  • If there are errors on the certificate, can it be reprinted?
    Yes.
  • How can the applicant know the certificate is already printed?
    If there is a certificate of declaration of acceptance of the HALAL certification certification has been displayed in the MYeHALAL system
  • Where can the applicant take halal certificate if the application is managed by the State Department of Religious Affairs (JAIN)?
    The halal certificate must be collect with the same place where application is managed.


  • AMENDMENT OF INFORMATION TO THE CERTIFICATE
  • What type of amendment to the certificate is allowed?
    Authorised amendment of information on the certificate is as follows:-
    1. Change of product name.
    2. Change name of SPHM holder.
    3. Changes of company address for contract manufacturing application.
  • What are the requirements if the product name need to be amended?
    The SPHM holder is allowed to amend the product name as long as it does not involve the change in ingredients
  • Can I change the company name on the certificate?
    Can, provided that the company's registration number (SSM) does not change.
  • Will the amendment of information on the certificate to be printed could be made if the applicant finds a mistake or change?
    Amendments cannot be made because of what is declared in the MYeHALAL system is final.
  • When amendment of information in the certificate can be submitted?
    Amendment of information to the certificate can be made if there is a need for amendments by submitting an official application letter after the certificate is issued.
  • In the event of alteration of information on the certificate, where the application should be submitted?
    Application for amendment of information should be submitted to the Competent Authority approving the application.
  • How to know the payment charge letter is ready?
    The payment charges letter will be sent via e-mail and posted to the applicant.


  • BRAND CHANGE/INCREASE
  • What should I do if there are changes/increased brands?
    SPHM holders are required to submit an official letter by expressing a brand change/increase with supporting documents such as packaging labels.
  • Will the brand change/increase be updated in the MYeHALAL system?
    Updates to the latest information will be conducted by Competent Authorities.
  • Will the brand change/increase be displayed on the certificate?
    No.
  • Do I need to inform JAKIM/JAIN brand change/increase?
    Yes.


  • CHANGES/ADDITION OF INGREDIENTS
  • Will the change/addition of ingredients need to be notified to JAKIM/JAIN?
    Yes.
  • Is the change/addition of the ingredients subject to charge?
    No.
  • What is the procedure if there is any changes in the ingredients for the product or menu that has been certified?
    Applicants need to submit an official letter stating the ingredients involved and the supporting documents such as copy of Halal certificate/MSDS/COA/product specification etc.
  • What is the limit on the number of permitted ingredients change/increase?
    The limit of changes in ingredients is 10 ingredients.
  • Do information change/increase ingredient materials need to be updated in MYeHALAL system?
    The applicant must update the change/increase ingredient materials in Masterlist ingredient materials and applicants should also update each product during the renewal application process.


  • CHANGE/INCREASE SUPPLIER/INGREDIENT MANUFACTURER
  • Is it changes/increases the supplier/manufacturer of the ingredients should be notified to JAKIM/JAIN?
    Yes.
  • What is the procedure if there are changes/increased supplier/manufacturer for products or menus that have been certified?
    Applicants need to submit an official letter by stating the supplier/manufacturer involved with the supporting doctor such as a copy of the Halal certificate/MSDS/COA/product specifications and others.
  • How many allowable limit/increase in supplier/manufacturer of ingredient material?
    Maximum limit of change/increase in supplier/ingredient manufacturer is 10 material only.
  • Does the supplier change/increase information on the ingredient must be updated in MYeHALAL system?
    The applicant must update the change/increase of the supplier/manufacturer of the ingredient in Masterlist ingredient materials and applicants should also update on each product during the renewal application process.


  • REPRINT CERTIFICATE
  • How much the charge rate for certificate reprints?
    The charge rate is RM50 per certificate.
  • How can payments be made?
    Payment must be in the form of bank draft/postal order in the name of Director General of JAKIM.
  • How long the payment period to complete?
    Payment must be submitted within 14 working days from the date the letter is issued.
  • What documents need to be submitted for the certificate reprint request?
    The following documents should include:
    1. Original certificate to be made of amendment.
    2. Copy of charge letter.
    3. Bank Draft/Postal Money Order.
  • How long the certificate to be printed after payment?
    The certificate will be ready within five (5) working days.


  • PACKING CHANGES
  • Is there a change of packing allowed after graduation?
    Yes.
  • What should I do if packing changes apply?
    SPHM holders need to submit official letters and new packaging samples to be judged by JAKIM/JAIN.


  • CONSIGNMENT NOTE
  • How do I apply for a Consignment Note?
    Applicants need to submit applications with relevant information (product that will be exported) to the Certificate Section, Halal Management Division, JAKIM's via email consignhalal.jakim@gmail.com
  • How long the waiting period for the issuance of the Consigment Note?
    Consigment Note will be issued within three (3) working days from the date of application submitted.
  • Is there a charge for this application?
    There is no charge for the present time.
  • What is the procedure for applying a Consigment Note?
    The applicant will be provided with the Consigment Note template to fill in the relevant information by email.
  • What are the necessary requirements for the application of the Consigment Note?
    The applicant needs to ensure the certificate validity for the product stated in the Consigment Note is still valid.
  • How do I know the Consigment Note is ready?
    Information will be email to applicant.


  • OTHERS
  • Does JAKIM appoint and recognise any consultant?
    No. JAKIM does not appoint and acknowledge any consultant. However, JAKIM has no obstruction if the company intends to appoint a consultant.
  • Can a newly operated company apply Halal certificate?
    Can, provided to meet the requirements of the Malaysia’s Halal Certification Procedures Manual.
  • Do I have to check the packaging label?
    Need if any health claims for product labeling.
  • Can the company use halal words on company name registration?
    Can’t. Based on Malaysia's Halal Certification Procedures Manual.
  • The company which ceased to operate as a slaughterhouse but carries out cutting activity. Is the company allowed to use the existing certificate or make a new application?
    The company is not allowed to use the existing certificate but is required to make a new application under the product scheme provided the source of materials is from the slaughter house which has been certified.
  • Can the product at research and development level (R&D) apply for halal certificate?
    Can. Able to apply with the following conditions:
    1. Raw materials are available and checked during the Malaysian Halal certification examination.
    2. No change in raw materials or ingredients and labelling.
    3. Has been pre-trial test (run-out trial or pilot run) at production flow (production line).
    4. Approved by the management of the company.
  • Is the applicant allowed to drop the product/kitchen which has been certified during the renewal application?
    Can.
  • What is Halal Assurance System (HAS)?
    The Halal guarantee system is a system developed to minimise and eliminate the disqualification to maintain halal integrity as well as to provide a consistent halal product (applicant should refer to guidelines for halal assurance management systems JAKIM).
  • Are there any responsibilities to the manufacturer to fill the ingredient materials for application made by the distributor/brand owner?
    Yes, because the MYeHALAL system will link between the manufacturer and the dealer/brand owner registed account.
  • What kind of errors can be made reprints without charge?
    The following error can be made a certificate reprints:-
    1. Reference No.
    2. Malaysia Standard.
    3. Validity period.
    4. Lost in the delivery process (POS).
    5. Name of manufacturer and applicant same but address different.
  • What should I do if the certificate is missing/damaged?
    The SPHM holder should make a police report and submit an official letter together with a copy of the police report to the Certificate Section, Halal Management Division JAKIM.
  • Are attachments included with the Logistic Scheme application certificate?
    Only Halal certificate is given for application of Logistics Scheme.
  • What should I do if the premise/factory is no longer in operation?
    SPHM holders have to reinstate the original halal certificate to JAKIM/JAIN together with the premise/factory closure notification letter.
  • Is there a copy of the certificate and a confirmation letter of receipt can be sent by email?
    No, a copy of the certificate and acknowledgement letter must be sent by post or by hand only.
  • How to apply for the application of the halal certificate can be made?
    Applicants are required to submit an application to the competent authorities who approve prior applications before submission to JAKIM.
